The Experience

The shoot will last approximately one hour.  This will consist of 40 minutes of fun filled, family or baby shots followed by 20 minutes of cake smashing fun.  We recommend arriving in something simple like jeans and a t-shirt  to help you feel at ease and relax into the experience. Try to avoid wearing any white clothing as we shoot on a white background. Bright colours come out great and instantly give your pictures impact.

The best cake for cake smash?

As in all images, colour is key. We do not provide the cake due to hygiene precautions. So we ask that you do select and bring your own cake for the photoshoot.  A soft icing cake will help cheeky fingers dig deep and get messy.  Most supermarkets have a cake smash section nowadays but if you want something a little more homemade, a soft icing over a simple sponge will work fantastically. We do have a cake stand available if you are unable to bring your own.

What to bring with you?

A cake smash shoot works best with skin on show.  For girls, a tutu or dungarees is great.  For boys, dungarees, jeans or shorts with braces, or even a bow tie.

Please ensure that you bring your balloons pre-blown and balloon arches can be constructed prior to the photoshoot in the reception area. Please ensure that your arrive ahead of you appointment time to allow opportunity to prepare.

We have a selection of bunting and backgrounds in the studio, however if you have any items you want to include then feel free to bring them along.  We do not recommend shiny balloons as they reflect the photographer and the surrounding studio items.

Our cake smash photoshoots are more than just cakes. We love bringing more personality into your images, so before you come, have a think about some personal items that may work well. It's about finding something that tells more about who you are and what you are like. The best way to do this is to think about your hobbies and interests and then find something that relates to those hobbies.

It's not essential but can add to the fun and show a little more about you with the photos.
